The door seems made of some kind of wood. Any attempt to cut or scratch it fails, but this seems a natural consequence rather than anything done to the substance. Perhaps it just naturally hardens so after cut down and aging for a time.

Kierenne startles. What? I was awake. Okay, I'll be right there. She shuffles towards the bridge, then across. She nearly walks past her brother and the door, but comes to her senses in time. She just hands him the key that Prospero dropped, then leans against the wall next to the door.

Taking the key from his twin, anyplace with interference with trumps has to be far from Amber. Or else magick'd by enemies of Amber.

Are you alright dear? We can rest if you require more, this place maybe dangerous.

We are on a mission to find out about the crimson unicorn. Probably some bastardization of Great Grandmother.

Try the key in the lock, see if it opens, sword at the ready, in front of his twin.

Enemies of Amber, co-opting their sign. As Grandfather would say, 'Traitors of the realm must be shown the error of their ways.'

The key slips into the lock and turns easily enough. A simple push will open the door.

Once done, a click and then a mild hum winds up. Beyond the door, lights flicker on and a large room becomes visible. Barely. The floor would seem to be a catwalk of some kind. Within, something seems to be moving. Something large. Actually many things. Some of them glow. If anything this tiny glimpse of the interior reminds the Kier of the interior of a clock.

Interesting...gears...let's make some mayhem in this castle of our enemy.

Love, can you whip up something for me, a ultra strong adhesive, acid, or just a chunk of metal? One of those should stop these gears.

While she's doing that, anything that could be used to jam said gears if what she brings up doesn't work? Any spring like contraptions within reach?

"Blah. Magic hard." says Kierenne, not even bothering to think it through the trump interferance. Still, she raises her head and scans the area for something to use. At least nearby, the best candidate as far as durability seems to be the dome itself. She attempts to create a chunk of the same material with sorcery. {Replicate Shadow Object spell, for those keeping track. I'm assuming she doesn't have to create an entire dome-sized dome, and can just stop at a random-sized chunk of the larger dome. Preferably a long thin strip of it, that could work as a very crude lever.}

That works. An irregular bar half a yard long materializes. Looks like it could be part of an internal support structure.

Kierenne grips the bar only loosely and shuffles towards the open door to the clockwork. Kieran should be inside by now, I guess. She wanders in and then wanders around, trying to find him, the bar resting across her shoulders.

{If there's an ambush, I'm wide open.}

Seeing his twin saunter through the door, he ducks through in case it tries to close and seperate them.

Look around once we're both inside, and try to figure out the best spot to set the bar to jam the works here.

Re: Strangers in Strange Lands (the Kier and Creampuff)

Turns out the room is a sphere, with an ironwork catwalk extending to a circular area in the center. Directly ahead, within the circular part, is what looks like a control panel of some kind fashioned from the same material as the door. A round piece of what looks like black glass rises from the control panel, roughly three feet wide. Once they get close enough, they can see two identical slots of keys, exactly like that in the door, but in the control panel. These seem to be the only "controls."

Now that they are inside, the mechanism they glanced before proves far more dizzyingly complex than they at first thought.

The interplay of gears and turning shapes, while fairly slow, also cannot be made out as one whole, not in a few minutes anyway. Belts intertwine with the moving parts, belts of a material that subtly shifts color along the spectrum. If anything the belts make up what looks something like a Moebius Strip but done up as a celtic knot, looped over itself several times and set in motion. Yet one end of the belts (towards the right side of the sphere) seem to be predominantly white, while the opposite seems predominantly red. It is as if the colors are impacted by two poles of...whatever.

Altogether this mechanism makes a sound halfway between a human sigh and that of running water.

"Damn it, where are you?" she says. "That belt, right there. That's what you should break. This is where you should be. Where in the name of Corwin's foul heart are you, damn it?"

She looks around further, trying to spot a gear intersection that would like a nice piece of something indestructable tossed into its teeth. The belt, while probably crucial, would probably ignore a blunt weapon like her stick. And anything changing colors could conceivably do damage to her sword. Vaguely, the sorceress wonders if there's any energy given off as part of the color change, or if that's actually something to do with polarized light hitting the different angles of the Mobius strip. But actually testing these theories would be too much work, so she just stands there hoping Kieran shows up soon.

I'm right behind you.

Taking in the whole room, seeing lots of things that look to be breakable, able to be jammed, or generally stopped.

"Love, you jam the gears, while I work on those belts. Anything else that looks useful to this contraption and able to be messed up, let's do it."

Enjoying the feel of his sword ready for action, let's misbehave.

Cut the belts. Be ready in case the master of the house comes visiting the destructive imps in his front room.

If nothing happens, more breaking.

The gears and belts are not in fact in easy striking distance, not for anyone of human dimensions, anyway. If anything is thrown, the mechanism doesn't seem affected in anyway. But of course if you do throw something, it falls down to the floor dozens of yards under the catwalk.

Of course once you do throw something at the mechanism, the door slams shut. There's is no lock or doorknob on the inside.

The control panel proves very tough indeed. Striking it will not do any damage. On the other hand, the two keyholes in the control panel look identical to the one in the door.

That didn't work, let's try this.

As he swings at the control panel, he utters a single word of power to negate the protective spell where the sword strikes.

"Noewe"

The sword slams into and through the control panel, sending a hard vibration back along the blade, enough to maybe break a bone of anyone with less inherent endurance than an Amber Royal. Sparks fly from the interior of the control panel.

And every single light in the spherical chamber goes out. They can hear the mechanism wind down to a halt. So soon there is silence as well as darkness.

Complete darkness. Complete silence.

"There is a rather ugly fall on both sides of us, two of us on a catwalk, and total darkness. You would be closer to the door we came through right now, and it would be alot easier to see what's beyond the door in front of us if we choose to go through it if we could see."

Better get her something to eat soon, she's getting whiny.
