Caine is still grinning behind his mustache as he answers. "If you feel you must use a title, Prince Corwin works. Just as Lord Kieran and Lady Kierenne is probably the simplest for yourselves. Immediate family of a monarch--sibling or children--are Prince and Princesses. Anything after that is Lord or Lady, at least as far as royals go. Moire is the Queen. Prince Llyr is her son and heir. Prince Triton just got sent somewhere so you probably won't meet him--he's the son of Corwin and Moire by way of a certain dalliance with some political overtones. Deirdre has a son, named Lord Alexander. Boring, earnest type. Your aunt Llewella is Moire's niece. Martin, Random's boy, is Moire's grandson."

Soon, the carriage comes to a halt near a beach.

Kierenne joins the crowd on the beach, looking around for landmarks.

"Shouldn't there be a boat to take us the rest of the way?" She sees no dock. "Oh, the city is below... so some kind of submarine? Will it rise from the water to ferry us down? Splendid." Then she notices only footprints on the sand. No sign of large vessels at all.

A little more sullenly, "Or maybe we just traipse on down there like commoners."

Caine gives a short laugh. "We all enter Rebma the same way." He then heads under the waves himself.

This, sweetling, is why Amber holds dominance over Rebma. Proper attention to ceremony.

Then she follows the line as it enters the water. She's heard of the enchantment that allows air-breathers to function there. She assumes the enchantment must extend to here. Else this was some practical joke and she might choke slightly on the briny water.

To herself, I don't want to look simple by asking... but... oh, I know. If there's an enchantment, I would be able to see it. She raises the image of the Pattern before her again, to see what she can see.

Sure enough, there is indeed some kind of enchantment in the water. But this magic is (for lack of a better term) extremely deep. It rises (or penetrates) out and into every particle, every color, every angle of what they see before them. As far she can tell, it is an intrinsic part of the way this world is shaped.

Try to figure out if this effect could be reproduced on a smaller scale, and portable. Either self-only, or ideally a bubble that could contain several people safely.

OOC - this is more making notes for later, not trying to experiment while we walk.

Moving towards the water, glancing side to side if this is some jest.

Seeing none, look into the water, seeking something, anything that would give a clue to how to proceed.

No boat, no submarine.

Realizing that his weight will only float lacking any sort of heavy object to convey him down, Kieran starts looking around for things on the shore to use.

Others simply walk into the water, quite deliberately and nonchalantly.

She notices her brother's hesitation. Don't worry, sib. The enchantment comes up to the edge. It should be fine.

The twins walk arm-in-arm into the sea with everybody else. And, nobody can see if there are brief looks of concern on their faces as they submerge completely.

"Somebody should at least build some kind of pagoda above the surface, so it doesn't look like just another empty beach." she adds, to cover her relief, when breathing sea water fails to kill her. And to test out how speaking works in the enchantment.

Walking with his sister, trying not to instinctively make swimming motions or trying to push himself "Down".

Having realized that drowning nor swimming is required, try to walk normally, "This is sea water, salt water. Would an infusion of fresh water disrupt this, or is the spell on the land? This does not seem very defensable. Or maybe it's too much like a corner for my tastes."

"Other then being wet, what happens if you try to enter at the wrong place? Having seen no visible marker to place where to begin the descent, there must have been quiet the trial and error period of wet people choking on water."

A passing fish of many colors gets his attention, squeezing Kierenne's hand to point it out, within touching distance. What do they taste like I wonder?

Ahead on the steps--and clearly underwater--they see a large man in blue and white who can only be Winnow, on the arm of the utterly lovely Flora. Between them Caine continues to walk. Beyond is a figure barely visible, but certainly seems male with red hair and in clothing both gold and purple.

Beyond him is becoming visible Castle Rebma!

"So far down. You say the enchantment protects from the pressure, as well?" To prove this, she reaches a hand towards the side of the stairway, where the Pattern tells her the enchantment ends. She extends her left hand, up to the wrist, into the natural water to see the effect it has on her.

Then she slowly draws her arm back in, and waits for the worms to finish repairing it.

Well, sweetling. It seems VERY defensible, if all attackers must approach down these narrow stairs. Aquatic Rebmanites can stand on the side with spears and massacre them without fear of reprisal. The enchantment is in the very warp and weft of the cosmos. I can't imagine that it could ever be confounded.

"Let us see if other magic works here, shall we?" With a gesture of power, Kierenne tries to pull the colored fish into her right hand.

[OOC - I'm a little unclear about what magic you're using to attract any fish. Mind you, fish here are used to people-shaped things wandering around and know they often have food. So either way, some fish might well approach. Cool ]

This was the Power Word we'd developed. In theory, the fish should get pulled, quite suddenly, into her hand, from a close distance.

The fish obeys the magic.

It doesn't take much to recognize the festive atmosphere going on. Indeed, on either side of the staircase now appear swimming dancers in colorful outfits, doing lovely slow dances for the visual splendor of the arrivals. Roughly half the dancers have pale blue or green skin or hair.
