Uberwald of the Golden Circle
Uberwald is probably the most remote member of Amber's Golden Circle. It is quite distant from the Eternal City, yet also remains the site of a MAJOR Shrine of the Unicorn--one that attracts large numbers of pilgrims.
The land itself is a peninsula of forested mountains, with a climate a bit warmer than Germany. Among its major exports is wine (excellent vintages) and wood (which is also used to build very good ships). They trade with many Shadows and have a separate, friendly relationship with Rebma. Rather like Hong Kong or Casablanca, Uberwald has the reputation for being a place to hide, to start anew.
Uberwalder civil wars are common, but small scale, between the eleven Electors who rule over most of the countryside. The capital city, where the elected King reigns, is ten times the size of any other in the realm, and probably twenty times as rich as the rest of Uberwald combined. The King hires a lot of excellent mercenaries and can ask for help from many allies if attacked. But he cannot conquer the country any more than Venice could take over all of Italy. The capital city, Fjornheim, is crowded and full of all kinds of characters.
The Shrine is under the personal patronage of the crown, and the Holy Sisters there serve as a vital part of the royal bureaucracy.
Technology is Renaissance, sans gunpowder. All three coasts are dotted with islands, some of which are havens to pirates or other "undesirables" in one way or another. North is a mountain range called The Wall of the World, which makes the Himilayas look like foothills.

Re: Uberwald of the Golden Circle
The current King of Uberwald is Nikolai II, a man past middle age but still vigorous. His sigil is a white reindeer with a golden crown on a red field. He himself has a full white beard. Enjoys a fair amount of personal popularity at home, while considered a strong ally of both Amber and Rebma.
