Just in case others would like to share...here is me last night with several friends. We went to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Two had never even seen the movie before, even on DVD. Total virgins. We had a blast!

This is my old LARP group, Japan 1995 (on the Yokota US Air Base, no actual Japanese in the pic). I'm the one in the suit left of center with the stage grey at the temples (I was 32 then, 48 now, so I probably do look a bit like the picture now).

Everone was in character as one of their characters, anyway - sometimes had more than 1. Notables: the masked fellow played a garou, the ghost left is a dead character , the ghost right lower was another dead character that had his head cut off, the invisible guy is a Tzimesce, the Darth Vader mask guy was a Malkavian...my memory is fading.

This is me participating in the UK Arabic scrable tournament in 2000 at a games convention called Ramsdencon (I'm the one with the teatowl on my head). The rules were extremely silly and involved putting down a series of letters, making a silly sounding word and then descibing it. The judge would then give you a random score. The game also involved roleplying threats with swords, guns and bribery with camels.

Yes, indeed. I am the baldest one, on the right. That was slightly over 9yrs ago, at my wedding. But for a while there, weddings were the only things to bring all of us into the same room, as some number of us have been out of town for a while. (At the moment, it's me and Kieran, but at the time it was Kieran and another one.)

It's pretty nerdy when someone's bachelor's party is allowing that guy to run a game combining two previously disparate groups. (He'd run a story in one city, then moved and ran the same story again for a group there. The original characters were done as NPCs for the second group. Putting all of us together in the same room was... educational.)

I did kind of a similar thing running two distinct groups of VTM in Boston by Night...occasionally there was pass-through and when we LARPed once a month was when everyone got together. This was, of course, back when I had no life i.e., overseas, in the Air Force in a job that didn't require much effort. Those were the days.

The much much larger part of my mind, the inner child who's turned 14, says "Is 'ribeye' some kind of weird anniversary-only sexual position? Like t-bone, only more athletic?"

Either way, it sounds like you have something to do while waiting for Chapter 1 to get kicked off.

Congatulations on 11 years Winnow. I'm on six years with my wife now and it'll be seven in June. A nice big steak sounds like a lovely treat!

But the steak at the new place we just tried turned out to be only so-so. The salmon was quite good, though.

So, I'm actually out of town for work training this week and next week (coincidentally, Kiran and I had dinner and a movie on Sunday, so bonus...), so I may get less spare time to log on to post. It shouldn't be enough to endanger my presence in the game, but I could drop from several posts per day to a day or two between posts.

Kieran and I should pose for a current photo though, while I'm here, so we can post it. Where can I find some masks, to complete the look, I wonder?
