Posting Guidelines
Here’s a few guidelines on how to post in the ‘story so far’ in-character forum, and what to expect from my posts. Please have a read through and try to bear them in mind when you’re writing your in-character posts. Thank you!
Writing style
If you can, please try to frame your posts in the third person. This will hopefully make the story flow better, and be less confusing for readers when there is more than one character in a topic at once.
e.g. Tom draws his sword. Not: I draw my sword.
Please also try to post in the present tense. Your posts should all occur now, not in the past. This means I can tell you whether or not your actions succeed without the story jarring too much for the readers.
e.g. Tom draws his sword. Not: Tom drew his sword.
Thoughts
If you want to, you can include your character’s thoughts, written in italics in the second person. In the example below, Tom is about to get into a fight, but his thoughts show that he is not very confident about his combat skills.
Tom draws his sword.
I really wish I’d paid more attention during Benedict’s lessons.
He takes a defensive stance and waits for his opponent to make a move.
GM Posting frequency
I'll be aiming to post regularly, hopefully about once every three or four days, to keep the story flowing. In group scenes, I will moderate the posting speed, but please be courteous to other players and give everyone a fair chance to post.
Taking a break
If you know that you'll be unavailable to post for a while, please do let me know, so I can plan for your character’s temporary absence.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Is there a way to set the default for a thread or forum to most-recent-at-the-top? If not, how about most-recent-page-displayed? I can't figure out how to do it, maybe I don't have permissions or maybe it is not doable? It's kind of annoying to have to keep selecting to go to the last page in a multipage thread.

Maybe sticky the important threads to the top?

Re: Posting Guidelines
That works for threads as a whole. But I'd like to see the most recent page on top, or even better, most recent post on top...

Re: Posting Guidelines
So... on the page where it lists all the threads of a forum, it will list the last person to post a comment in that thread. Just to the right of the person's name is a super-tiny little icon that looks vaguely like a piece of paper with the corner folded over. Click on that, and it takes you to the final post in the thread.

Re: Posting Guidelines
I'm feeling the need to clarify something.
Any player who does not post for seven days without warning us ahead of time will be considered to have dropped out of the game. Said player character will become an NPC.
If someone cannot post for more than two weeks for any reason, then I'm inclined to take the same action depending upon circumstances.
Then, of course, a slot will open for a new player to enter the game. I'm going to be very lazy and say the slot goes to the first person to ask for it by PM'ing me.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Does this 7 day rule apply when the person in question is the last one to post and waiting for other players or GM to follow?
I ask because I am again waiting for others to post. Been 5 days.
If it does, I am going to start replying to myself. lol.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Yeah that thread has been slow. My guess is everyone is waiting for someone else to post.

In that case, the problem clearly lies with the person who is supposed to reply. Yes, we are all waiting for Xenon to reply to any of the things said to his character. If he doesn't do anything in two days, Alexander becomes an NPC. Triton is in no danger of that.
I hope the player is okay.
(See, this is one reason to have Preludes. )

*bump*
Just kidding.
Winnow is in stasis, his mind alive but his body frozen in amber...or Amber...
and I applaud the GM being tough but fair. It's always a frustration when one player is not commited to the game. Dump 'em and move on, I say.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Okay, none of this applies to Fergus or Winnow yet because your prelude is completed. I'm waiting to start the first chapter, waiting until each of the preludes reaches a stopping point.

I was not trying to get Xenon in trouble. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't screwing something up.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Triton, you have not screwed up in the slightest. One more day to go. Like I said, I hope Xenon is alright. But we can only wait so long for him.

Okay. Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Re: Posting Guidelines
Sorry I haven't been around all week. The return to work has been crazier than I expected. Maybe for the rest of January I might only be able to post Fri-Sun. I hope to be around other times in the week but I'll have to see how things go.

Any word from Casca's player? He hasn't posted for two weeks.

Re: Posting Guidelines
He did warn us, when he lost a member of his family. I will contact him. Thanks for reminding me.
